| Obviously, there hasn’t been much BRRR in August. Hot and dry and not very pleasant. According to the National Weather Service, Wichita experienced its 2nd driest July-August on record with .75 inches. The driest was during the Dust Bowl of 1936. Yikes. I suspect Pratt isn’t far off either. It’s starting to feel a little like this… |

| Anyhow, it’s gotta be better in SEPTEMBER, RIGHT?? |

Oof. Maybe not. If there’s any positive astronomical outlook, it will be the sun crossing the equator in 3 weeks for the Fall Equinox. We’ve battled this persistent dryness since it was persistently and overly wet. With a Super El Niño hanging out there, Fall may well include some wild swings in the weather as well. I have to applaud Matt and the entire grounds crew for their efforts this summer. It’s been no less than challenging, and I don’t think you can argue the quality of the greens and fairways has been incredible given the circumstances. You’ll be hard pressed to find another course that’s still in great golfing condition or hasn’t had to place some significant restrictions on cart travel and water use. That being said, help us keep it that way. The buffalo and some of the rough areas have largely gone dormant. Please keep your cart travels in the least sensitive areas. Use cart path as much as possible, and if it’s brown try not to knock it down. An update on the fairway and tee projects. 1 Fairway is coming along, albeit slowly. A lot of other courses have experienced the same issues getting the zoysia established, and the grassy weed pressure has been frustrating. But we’re making headway and our focus in 2027 will filling in that left portion of the fairway. Tee boxes on the contrary established quickly and will only require some minor additional work and seeding surrounds. ![]() |
September is always a transition month into school and sports activities, college football, and those house projects you put off all summer. That means a little quieter course and the pool isn’t white-capping from constant cannonballs. Just a reminder that we’re here for a quiet poolside lunch or a quick weekday round. And especially the specials! If you see something you like on the menu, we can curbside it for a quick meal to go. We are here to serve you! It also means a return of regular Social Events! Dropping some trivia September 25th. That will be a BUSY weekend with the Chamber Tournament earlier that day and Oktoberfest the next! Which means you should bring your guests out Friday night for what’s always an entertaining event.![]() |
There’s quite a few opportunities to play in upcoming tournaments. All of the flyers are at the end of this newsletter. A few of these are close to filling, do not delay in signing up! A heads up for the October 31st Couples Tournament because you’re going to need some time to find a winning costume! It’s going to be spook-tacular! Please note, CLUBHOUSE HOURS are changing as we transition to Fall. Scrambles start this week, too. Park Hills hosts the PHS tournament on the 14th. Come out and cheer them on! ![]() ![]() |
| We recently noted in a Facebook post, a golf course in the middle of a drought is a bit of an oasis for wildlife. Armadillos and skunks have had a heyday on the collars, and the kites and deer aren’t helping out much either. The quail that stopped by the clubhouse are lucky they’re not a special (yet). So if you see something you’d like to take home as a pet, be our guest. As things calm down, now is a great time to invite a prospective member out for a round or a meal. We’re blessed with an incredible membership, and always looking for for ways to grow our community. As always, let us know how we can serve you better. Happy Golfing! Hallie and Brandon ![]() |
